Wild Privet Hedging Planted Along Garden Path in Canterbury

For this project in Canterbury, we returned to a garden where we had previously installed a new garden path the year before. The customer wanted to enhance the area further by adding natural hedging alongside the pathway to soften the space and create a more defined garden border.

The Challenge

While the path had improved access through the garden, the surrounding area still felt open and unfinished. The customer wanted something that would:

  • Frame the pathway naturally
  • Provide structure to the garden
  • Be easy to maintain long-term

After discussing options, wild privet hedging was chosen as a practical and attractive solution.

Our Landscaping Solution

Our team prepared the ground along the length of the existing pathway and carefully planted a row of wild privet hedging plants.

Wild privet is a great choice for gardens because it:

  • Creates a dense and attractive hedge
  • Is hardy and fast growing
  • Responds well to regular trimming and shaping

Once planted, we also continue to maintain the hedge for this regular customer, ensuring it stays neat, healthy and well shaped throughout the seasons.

The Result

The new hedging now runs neatly alongside the pathway we installed previously, creating a much more finished and structured garden layout.

The project has provided:

  • A natural border for the pathway
  • Added privacy and greenery
  • A more established garden feel

Because we maintain the hedge regularly, it continues to grow into a tidy, well-defined feature that complements the rest of the garden.
